Animal facility and vet clinic floor coating in Hutto, TX
Heritage Floor Coatings installs animal facility floor coating for veterinary clinics, kennels, groomers and boarding businesses in Hutto and across the Austin metro. Claws, accidents, wash-downs and strong disinfectants are hard on any floor, so we use a non-porous, scratch-resistant polyaspartic coating that keeps the space clean and safe.

The short answer
A polyaspartic coating gives vet clinics and animal facilities a non-porous floor that doesn't absorb liquids, resists scratches and harsh disinfectants, and can be slip-resistant for animals and people. It is stronger than vet clinic epoxy flooring and cures fast to limit closures.
- Stands up to pawsResists scratches, scuffs and stains from claws, crates and constant traffic.
- Non-porousDoesn't absorb liquids, which helps keep odors and bacteria from taking hold.
- Disinfectant resistantHolds up to the cleaning agents used for regular sanitizing.
- Better footingSlip-resistant options help animals, owners and staff feel steady.
What an animal facility floor goes through
Vet clinics, kennels and grooming shops ask a lot of a floor. Claws scratch it, crates slide across it, and accidents, bath water and wash-downs hit it every day. Heavy carts, exam tables and food bins roll across it too. Then it gets disinfected, often several times a shift.
Porous concrete and worn flooring soak up liquids, which leads to lingering odors and areas that are hard to truly clean. A slick floor is also stressful for nervous animals and risky for staff handling them. Grooming and bath areas add standing water and shampoo to the mix.
Vet clinic epoxy flooring vs. polyaspartic
Epoxy is common in clinics, but our polyaspartic system gives a stronger, more durable surface. The polyurea base coat is graded four times stronger than traditional epoxy, and the coating cures in a fraction of the time, so you're closed for less.
Most important for animal care, the surface is non-porous. It doesn't absorb liquids, which reduces the risk of bacteria growth and makes sanitizing simpler. The coating can also be customized for anti-microbial requirements. Compare the two on our polyaspartic flooring page.
- Non-porous, so liquids and odors don't soak in
- Resists scratches, scuffs and stains
- Holds up to harsh disinfectants and cleaning agents
- Slip-resistant textures for exam rooms and wash areas
- Can be customized for anti-microbial needs
Planning the install around your patients
We diamond grind the concrete so the coating bonds, repairing minor cracks and stains in prep. Then comes the polyurea base coat, an optional flake broadcast and the polyaspartic topcoat. If a slab is severely damaged, we'll tell you honestly upfront, since most concrete repairs cost up to three times the price of coating.
A grooming room, exam room or small kennel area can often be finished in a day. For a full clinic or boarding facility we'll plan the schedule with you, for example coating one wing at a time so animals can be moved while the rest stays open.

Colors and a 5-year warranty
Flake blends like Driftwood, Sand Stone or Granite hide fur, dust and paw prints between cleanings, while solid colors keep a crisp clinical look. Different colors can help separate kennels, exam rooms and the lobby. Lighter colors make it easy to spot messes quickly, which matters in busy kennels and exam rooms.
Commercial floors carry a 5-year warranty from Heritage. You can see more of our finished floors on our recent work page.
Every room in an animal care business
Animal businesses usually have several kinds of space under one roof: a lobby, exam or grooming rooms, kennels, a bath or wash area, and storage. The same non-porous system works in each, and we can plan the project so animals are moved as little as possible. One assessment covers the whole building, and one 5-year warranty covers the floors we coat.
Clinics with labs or surgical suites should also see our healthcare and lab floor coating page. Boarding businesses with a food prep area can read about commercial kitchen flooring, and facilities with a vehicle bay or transport van can see auto shop floor coating. Everything we coat is on our commercial floor coating hub.

Questions
Animal facilities flooring: straight answers
Will dog and cat claws scratch the floor?
Our coating is highly resistant to scratches and scuffs, so everyday claw traffic and sliding crates won't wear through it the way they wear down bare concrete. A flake finish also helps hide light surface marks between cleanings, keeping the floor looking good in busy areas.
Can the floor handle disinfectants used in vet clinics?
Yes. The coating is highly resistant to harsh chemicals, including the disinfectants and cleaning agents used for regular sanitizing. Because it is non-porous, liquids stay on the surface and can be cleaned up completely instead of soaking in. That helps keep odors from building up in the floor over time.
Is it slippery for animals?
We offer slip-resistant textures that give paws and shoes better grip, which helps nervous animals and the staff handling them. We'll recommend the right texture for exam rooms, kennels and wash areas during the free assessment, balancing grip with easy cleaning. Kennels and wash areas usually get more texture than a lobby does.
Is it a good fit for kennels and wash areas?
Yes. Kennels and wash areas see constant water and cleaning, and a seamless, non-porous coating is easy to hose and mop. With no grout lines or seams, there are fewer places for hair, dirt and bacteria to collect. Call (737) 637-3732 or contact us to set up a free on-site assessment of your facility.
How long will my clinic or kennel need to close?
A single exam room, grooming room or small kennel area can often be coated in a day, and the coating cures much faster than epoxy. For a full clinic or boarding facility we'll plan the schedule with you, often one area at a time, so you can keep caring for animals while the work is done. Call (737) 637-3732 to talk it through.
