The short answer
Heritage's process has six steps: a free quote, diamond grinding and crack repair, a polyurea base coat, an optional decorative flake broadcast, a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat, and a 24-hour wait before you drive on it. Most garages are finished in a single day.

Diamond grinding and repair
Install day starts with diamond grinding. It removes the weak top layer, old paint or failed epoxy and opens the concrete so the coating bonds into it. Minor cracks, stains and light spalling are repaired now.
Why prep matters more than paint - 03
Polyurea base coat
The polyurea base coat goes down next. It is the foundation of the system and the source of its strength, graded four times stronger than traditional epoxy, and flexible enough to move with the slab.
Polyaspartic vs. epoxy - 04
Flake broadcast
If you chose a decorative finish, flake is broadcast into the wet base coat for color, depth and grip. Solid colors skip this step.

Polyaspartic topcoat
A clear, UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat seals everything in, adding chemical resistance, gloss and slip-resistant texture where you need it.

Walk on it, then drive on it
You can walk on the floor soon after the topcoat and drive on it within 24 hours. The space is clean and ready, with a 20-year warranty on residential garages.

On the job
What install day looks like
Morning: grind, repair, base coat
We arrive, protect the walls and doorways, and grind the slab. Dust is vacuumed as we go. Cracks and pits are filled, then the polyurea base coat goes down and your flake is broadcast into it.
Afternoon: topcoat and clean-up
Once the base coat is ready, we scrape and vacuum loose flake, roll on the polyaspartic topcoat, and clean up. You can walk on it soon after; give it 24 hours before parking.

Questions
Process questions
Is it really done in one day?
Most residential projects, including a typical two-car garage, are finished in a single day. Very large or heavily damaged floors and big commercial areas may take longer, and we'll tell you upfront.
Is the grinding loud and dusty?
Grinders are loud while they run, and we vacuum dust as we go. Most of the noise happens in the first part of the day.
Do I need to be home?
Someone should be there to let us in and sign off at the end. In between, many homeowners go about their day.
When can I put things back in the garage?
You can walk on the floor soon after the topcoat and drive on it within 24 hours. We'll give you specific timing for heavy items when we finish.
