Why coat a concrete patio or porch?

Bare concrete stains, dusts, cracks and looks unfinished next to a nice home. Outdoor living areas in Central Texas also deal with direct sun, heavy rain and big temperature swings through the year. A coated patio looks finished, stays easy to clean, and protects the slab from water getting in.

Our polyurea coating is a step above epoxy outdoors because it is stronger and more flexible, so it handles the elements instead of cracking off. Its UV resistance means it won't fade or discolor over time.

Covered patios, open patios and front porches

Covered back patios are our most common outdoor job: they get furniture, grills, dogs and family traffic, and a flake finish ties the floor to the stone and brick around it. Open patios and walkways get the same system with extra attention to drainage and slip resistance. Front porches set the first impression of the house, and a coating makes them look new again.

Concrete patio paint vs. a real coating

Concrete floor paint is the cheap fix many people try first. It sits on top of the slab, scuffs under chair legs and peels where water gets behind it, so most painted patios need redoing within a season or two. A ground-in polyurea coating bonds to the concrete and is built to last for years. We compare them side by side on our garage floor paint vs. coating page.

Colors that suit the outside of your home

Outdoors, warmer blends like Driftwood, Sand Stone, Desert Sand and Fieldstone pair well with Texas limestone and tan brick, while greys like Smoke and Slate Stone suit modern exteriors and dark trim. See all 14 on our color choices page, and look through recent patio jobs for real examples.

One-day install, with financing if you want it

We diamond grind the slab, repair minor cracks, lay the base coat and flake, and seal it with the topcoat, usually all in one day. Many homeowners do the patio and the garage on the same visit. With $0-down financing, the whole project can fit a monthly budget.

We coat porches and patios across Hutto, Round Rock, Georgetown, Leander and the rest of the Austin metro.

Questions

Porch & patio coating: straight answers

Will a patio coating get hot in the Texas sun?

Any surface in direct summer sun gets warm. Lighter colors stay cooler than dark ones, so for open patios and pool decks we usually suggest a lighter blend. The coating itself is UV stable, so it won't fade or yellow from the sun.

Is a coated patio slippery when wet?

Our patio coatings are non-slip. The broadcast flake adds texture, and we can add extra slip resistance for walkways and areas that see a lot of water.

Can you coat a cracked patio?

Minor cracks and light spalling are repaired as part of the prep. Slabs that have heaved or broken need concrete repair first, and we'll tell you honestly on the quote visit if yours does.

What warranty comes with a patio coating?

Exterior surfaces like porches and patios carry a 7-year warranty. Residential garages carry 20 years and commercial spaces 5 years.
